An Engadine author is inviting school students to have the chance to feature in her upcoming book.
Heidi Farrelly is running an art competition that gives teenagers the opportunity to have their talent splashed on the pages of Choosing Happy, set to be released in May.
“Choosing Happy is a mental health book that promotes happiness and stability through the use of daily routines and activities such as mindfulness, gratitude, exercise and prioritising the important things in life,” the Engadine mum said.
The only thing missing? Colourful illustrations.
Ms Farrelly hopes the picture call-out will draw aspiring young artists to express how they see mental health, through their art.
“Pictures can inspire, tell a story, or encourage laughter, and this is what I want the illustrations to do,” she said.
“While this gig doesn’t pay, artists will have the opportunity to have their work printed and seen worldwide.”
The competition is open to anyone aged older than 12.
All creative students including those who study visual arts and design are encouraged to submit their entries.
There are 30 different categories open for entry and one winner will be picked from each.
Winners are chosen based on votes.
Entries close March 23.
