An incredible unbeaten century from Joshua Clarke has helped Hawkesbury to a surprise win over Sutherland – denting Sutherland’s minor premiership hopes.
Defending 316 at Owen Earle Oval, Sutherland were unable to handle Hawkesbury opener Clarke who carried his bat to help the hosts to a commanding six-wicket victory.
Clarke made 188 not out from 233 balls, hitting 15 fours and two sixes as Hawkesbury made 4-320 inside 84 overs.
Austin Waugh (2-56) and Nick Amos (2-91) were the only Sutherland bowlers to make a breakthrough with Jake Wilson, Steven Milliken, Jayden Brown and Tom Doyle all going wicketless.
The loss saw Sutherland slip to fourth place, three points behind joint leaders Campbelltown-Camden and Parramatta with two rounds remaining.
Sutherland host finals-chasing Gordon at Glenn McGrath Oval on day one of their two-day, round 14 fixture on Saturday.
