Commonwealth Games Australia has just announced its strong 36-member cycling team to contest the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.

Three St George Cycling Club stars have made the cut for the Track Cycling team and will vie for 16 gold medals in Brisbane from April 4-15.
2010 Gold medallist Kaarle McCulloch makes her return to the team forming a formidable women’s sprint duo contesting the team sprint with reigning Commonwealth Games champion Stephanie Morton.
“It's exciting to be part of this 2018 Commonwealth Games team” Kaarle said.
“After missing Glasgow through injury,its good to be back in the green and gold skin suit and representing Australia.
“I've recently moved to Adelaide (home to the High Performance squad) so Stephanie and I are training every single day together.”
Nicholas Yallouris is named in his first Games’ team, making the men’s track endurance squad which is replete with rainbow jerseys, with his fellow reigning team pursuit world champions Samuel Welsford, Kelland O’Brien, Leigh Howard and Alexander Porter plus individual pursuit world champion Jordan Kerby.
Newly crowned Australian Champion Ashlee Ankudinoff, a 2010 representative, will help lead the women’s endurance squad with defending scratch race Gold medallist and dual world champion Annette Edmondson and dual 2014 Games medallist and world champion Amy Cure.
Australian Team Chef de Mission Steve Moneghetti welcomed the athletes on to the Australian Team.
“We enjoyed strong success at Glasgow 2014 from the Cycling team, so with the depth and experience we have in this team we look forward to more success at Gold Coast 2018,” he said.
“The cycling program is an incredibly exciting one for fans, with competition at the new Anna Meares Velodrome, road cycling events that are free and open to all spectators and mountain biking at the Nerang trails.
“With many of these athletes spending a lot of time abroad, Gold Coast 2018 provides a unique chance for these athletes to compete in front of a home crowd,” Moneghetti said.
