Three St George and Sutherland residents have secured coveted places on the highly competitive 2018 Sydney Water Graduate Program.
Kevin Lee, a 22-year-old Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering graduate from the University of Sydney, Jacqueline Xidis from Blakehurst, a 22-year-old Commerce and Media graduate from the UNSW and Caringbah resident Alexandra Northam are three of only 11 graduates selected from more than 1300 applications from university students across Australia.
Kevin Lee spent two years as part of Sydney Water’s industrial trainee program.
“I loved my experience as an industrial trainee, so I decided to pursue Sydney Water’s graduate program to continue the journey that began two years ago,” Kevin said.
This year Kevin will be working at Sydney Water’s Glenfield Wastewater Treatment Plant as part of the treatment team.
“I want to become a competent, professional chemical engineer that serves millions of people in the city I love.”
Jacqueline said Sydney Water is renowned for its Graduate Program.
“Knowing that I had the opportunity to work within a corporation that holds environmental sustainability and customers as its foundations really appealed to me and this is why I applied to be a part of the program,” she said.
Jacqueline will be working at Sydney Water’s head office in Parramatta as part of the corporate public affairs team.
“While my passions lie with marketing and communications, I am most excited about the graduate program’s rotation system, given that the business spans across so many diverse areas,” she said.
Alexandra Northam will be working at Sydney Water’s head office in Parramatta as part of the corporate strategy and business planning team.
“I hope to make a worthwhile contribution to the wonderful work that Sydney Water is already achieving,” Alexandra said.
Sydney Water’s Susan Bentley said the award winning student program allows Sydney Water to draw on the best candidates coming through universities across a range of fields including digital and analytics, engineering, science, finance and communications.
“The graduate program provides on the job experience and learning opportunities to university graduates, including a two-week induction period to help with the transition from university to full time work,” Ms Bentley said.
“We look for a diverse range of talented candidates whose innovative ideas and drive help Sydney Water build our capability and prepare for tomorrow.”
Sydney Water graduates are offered a four-year rotational program with up to four 12 month work placements, providing university graduates with the opportunity to explore many career paths in the one organisation.
Applications for Sydney Water’s 2019 Graduate Program are now open and close on March 30, 2018.
