It was always going to be special when two of Australia’s finest singer-songwriters announced they were teaming up to release their first ever album together.
Country artists Adam Eckersley and Brooke McClymont, who married in 2009, have each enjoyed incredible careers, and between Brooke’s work with her sisters in the McClymonts and Adam’s eponymous Adam Eckersley Band (AEB), they’ve collected a swag of gongs to adorn the marital home.
And with the release of their self-produced 10-track self-titled album, Adam & Brook, on February 9, more music awards are on the cards.
‘‘We didn’t know what to expect when we decided to do an album together but we did know that we love the songs and the recordings and you can only hope that if you love it then other people will too,’’ Brooke said.
The album followed hot on the heels of their acclaimed debut duo single Train Wreck.
Fans can expect to hear songs from the album along with a selection of favourites from the extensive catalogue of both The McClymonts and Adam Eckersley Band when the pair perform their “Highway Sky” gig at the Brass Monkey on April 26.
‘‘The shows feel like we’ve got a bunch of our closest friends in our lounge room and there’s songs that make people cry and songs that make people dance so there’s something for everyone,’’ Brooke said.
‘‘We can’t wait to hit Cronulla with this show.’’
Adam said most of the shows on their national tour are just Brooke and himself with a couple of acoustic guitars, a stomp box and a bunch of stories and songs.
‘‘The great thing about the acoustic shows is we get to tell lots of stories about the songs and we crack each other up when we’re onstage,’’ Adam said.
‘‘It’s so much fun and we’ve got a great bunch of artists joining us, I can’t think of anything I’d rather be doing.’’
