Ramsgate RSL has given local school students the opportunity to show their support to our Australian service personnel serving overseas.
The students took part in the club’s Anzac Care Package project as a way of strengthening the message of Anzac across the years and the miles.
“Anzac Day 2018 is a very important period for Ramsgate RSL Club and our country, as it marks 100 years since our involvement in the First World War,” Ramsgate RSL’s chief executive officer David Moorcroft said.
“The Anzac Centenary is a time to honour the service and sacrifice of both past and present servicemen and women who have and continue to defend our country,” he said.
“As a community initiative to help reinforce the understanding of the traditions of the Anzac, Ramsgate RSL were excited to give the opportunity for local school students to take part in their Anzac Care Package initiative.
“This year, in keeping with the Club’s heritage and committing to those who have served and are serving our country, each Ramsgate RSL team member kindly put together the gift of a Care Package, 100 packs in total, which will be delivered to our brave Soldiers in time for Anzac Day.
“Each Care Package were purposely packed with snack food favourites including shapes, Jelly Beans, Anzac Cookies and Tim Tams, to put a smile on the faces of our soldiers.
“To make this initiative even more symbolic, Ramsgate RSL teamed up with local school students who wrote a personalised note to the soldiers to tell them how grateful they are of their service.
“We believe the collaboration between our club, sub-branch and local schools will have a great impact with our soldiers this Anzac Day in showing our support as a whole community” Mr Moorcroft said.
Everyone is invited to attend the Ramsgate RSL for their special Anzac Day March and Service on Wednesday, April 25 from 7am.
