Children have their say on government’s role
UNICEF has conducted its first children’s consultation at Sylvania Heights Public School.
More than 30 primary school pupils took part in a two-hour workshop with staff to share their opinions on the decisions the government should be making about issues that effect young people.
Children were taken through interactive activities that aimed to educate them about government spending and the distinction between ‘rights’ and ‘wants’.
Pupils said more money should be spent on education, health, and basic child rights such as safe housing.
