BeConnected Community Services celebrated Seniors Festival 2018 with an open day at their Caringbah branch last month.
Everyone was welcome with even Sutherland mayor Carmelo Pesce dropping in to draw the raffle and have a cup of tea and a chat.
“BeConnected supports our people who are still living at home” Darlene Prociuk, Assistant Branch Manager said.
“It really socially connects the senior members of our community at whatever level they want, and it wouldn't work without the help of our volunteers.”
The program for the day included a raffle, big morning tea, a guest speaker from Centrelink/Medicare, lunch, free giveaways followed by an entertainment set by the singing Sweet Violets.
BeConnected Community Services has four branches in Sutherland Shire (Cronulla, Caringbah, Miranda and Jannali) – all providing a range of social activities to support seniors to maintain social connections and participation in the community.
Each branch hosted similar activities last week to celebrate everything that is great about being a senior.
“Its a friendly service and we really enjoy coming here,” Caringbah residents for 58 years and regular clients, Jack and Val Davies said.
“We've been coming for 6 years and it does keep us up to date and connected with what's going on in the Caringbah and Sutherland Shire community”
Caringbah Branch holds a Seniors Open Day on the third Wednesday of every month and all seniors are welcome.
