The annual Bayside Seniors Garden Party is one of Council’s most popular events.
And this year more than 800 senior residents are expected to turn out for a morning of food, friendship and familiar music in Sir Joseph Banks Park on May 6.
All 800 tickets to the event were snatched up within 48 hours of being advertised, Bayside Council mayor Bill Saravinovski said.
“While I would like to see all our senior residents there on the day there is a limit on how many we can safely cater for,” he said.
“The largest available demountable Circus Marquee has a sit-down capacity for 800 people.
“We now have a waiting list and will do our best to accommodate as many as possible.
“The council staff work hard on this free event to ensure everyone has a fun time.”
This popular event remains a highlight on council’s event calendar. Bayside Council is continually developing community-based programs to maximize the health, and happiness of senior residents and to ensure they are socially connected and active in the community.
Senior citizen community centres located throughout the Bayside local government area also offer various community programs for those wanting to socialise and people with similar interests.
For our less-active seniors, there are support services such as meals, transport and a home library service to help you continue living comfortably and independently at home.
