Over the past three years I have contacted council on a number of occasions regarding the parking situation surrounding Riverwood station.
Late 2015 they conducted a suburb survey regarding this situation and advised me that they would not be making any changes to parking as it was deemed that a response from 10 homes, with a majority of four houses, stated that they did not require any change to the parking.
In the last 18 months, re-development of the area surrounding Peakhurst Park has boomed and what once was parking available for visitors to enjoy the park, is now being taken up by residents cars.
Re-development approval has also been given to houses two streets from Riverwood station. As these streets are very narrow and offer parking for commuters residential access is greatly restricted.
I have provided photos to council re cars parked across mine/my neighbours driveways, I have emailed them regarding abuse I have received as I have asked people to move from my driveway, we have had cars damaged by other vehicles using our street as it it too narrow for parking to be on both sides.
I have advised them that the timed parking they do have in place is being abused by commuters parking in 2 hour spots all day, I have made many attempts to meet with them regarding this situation to no avail. I am at my wits end now.
Council do not seem to care about those of us that have to live within close proximity of public transport.
Councils need to stop over-development of these areas and start providing adequate parking for commuters that does not impact on residents.
