Late on a recent Saturday night, Stirling Avenue Kirrawee was awoken to a car hoon racing through the street.
The joy ride came to an abrupt halt on the second lap when the brand new black Toyota Hilux ute slammed into a parked BMW.
The ute being driven by a young man on a "Good Behaviour Probation" ended up in a neighbour’s front yard.
Concerned residents dashed from their beds, expecting the worst case, the hoon driver however had his life spared, most likely thanks to the ute’s airbag system.
Police, fire brigade and tow trucks were called. The alcohol breath test returned negative, however the concerned residents were left bemused that further tests were not conducted also as the driver showed signs of intoxication, perhaps of another substance.
This time the hoon was let off with his life, perhaps this will be the wake up call he requires to start respecting his right to drive on our roads.
I’d personally like this car hoon to never drive down my street again, good behaviour probation or not, and I believe the police should take more into account in their decision to leave this menace on the street.
