On behalf of the Sutherland Shire Relay For Life Committee and Cancer Council NSW, we would like to thank the Sutherland Shire and St George community for supporting the 17th annual Sutherland Shire Relay For Life on May 5-6.
Shire Relay saw the local community come together, have fun and give back to support all whose lives are affected by cancer.
The weekend saw locals of all ages walking or running around a track for 24-hours, along with plenty of festivities including live music and games.
We’ve raised more than $332K so far and are hoping to still reach our goal of $400K.
A special thanks to the Leader for all your support in the lead up to the Relay and for your presence at the weekend event.
This year in the South Eastern Sydney region it is predicted that 5,159 people will be diagnosed with cancer, with 1,639 deaths expected.
The funds raised will support Cancer Council initiatives including funding world-class cancer research, providing practical and emotional support services for patients, carers and families, and education programs on cancer prevention.
Thank you to the shire and St George community for walking in hope for all those affected by cancer and for supporting the vision for a cancer free future.
