Men, 36 and 32, arrested after shots fired in Bexley street

UPDATE

A man has been charged with dealing with the proceeds of crime following a public place shooting in Bexley last night.

Just after 11pm police attended the intersection of Abercorn and Medway Streets, Bexley, after reports of shots fired.

Police attended and located two casings nearby. No injuries or damage to property was reported.

Officers searched the area and located two men nearby in Yeo Lane.

A Toyota Hilux belonging to one of the men was located nearby and searched, with police allegedly locating a large amount of cash in the vehicle. The cash and vehicle were seized by police.

The two men, aged 36 and 32, were arrested and taken Kogarah Police Station.

The 32-year-old man was charged with deal with property proceeds of crime.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Sutherland Local Court on June 26.

The 36-year-old man was released.

The firearm used in the shooting has not been located. Inquiries into the shooting continue.

Two men, 36 and 32, were arrested after shots were fired in a  Bexley street overnight.

Shortly after 11pm on Thursday, police received reports of gunfire at the intersection of Abercorn Street and Medway Street.

 “Police attended and located two casings nearby,” a spokesman said.

“No injuries or damage to property was reported.

“Officers searched the area and located two men nearby in Yeo Lane.

“The men were arrested and a Toyota Hilux belonging to one of the men was located nearby and searched, with police allegedly locating a large amount of cash in the vehicle.

“The vehicle was seized by police.

“The firearm used in the shooting has not been located.

“The two men, aged 36 and 32, were taken Kogarah Police Station, where inquiries continue.

“A crime scene is in place being examined by forensic specialists.”
