Pollard Park in Kirrawee was named after Francis Pollard, one of the original Sutherland Shire councillors who helped establish Kirrawee as a new suburb within the shire.
His term covered 1948 to 1953 when the original 3 shops were established alongside the new railway station.
Sadly the small triangular shaped park next to the Kirrawee railway station has been neglected.
Fallen tree branches, overgrown weeds, dead foliage etc has changed a once proud part of early Kirrawee into sad times.
Could senior managers of Sutherland Shire Council who look daily apon the pristine Forby Sutherland gardens next to their office building where two full-time gardeners are employed, have a thought for former Francis Pollard to whom this forgotten part of Kirrawee was dedicated.
