Winning a trophy at the Sutherland Shire Local Business Awards is a thrill, but every entrant receives an even greater prize – knowledge of what their business is doing right and ways that they can improve on it.
That’s the take home message from business awards founder Steve Loe.
The Precedent Production managing director founded the awards more than 30 years ago to recognise businesses that provide outstanding goods and services to their communities.
‘‘Year after year, the stand-out message from our nominees has been that the awards judging process gives them a framework in which they can reflect on every aspect of their business – from customer service to presentation,’’ Mr Loe said.
‘‘Business owners become so immersed in the day-to-day running of their operation, that it’s hard to take time to step back and evaluate what they’re doing from a customer’s point of view.
‘‘The Local Business Awards provide an opportunity and framework for business owners and managers to take an impartial look at what they and their teams are doing, then make adjustments to suit.’’
Customers nominate and vote for businesses in industry categories.
The winners of each category are then considered for the Business of the Year.
Sponsors of the awards are NOVA Employment, Sutherland Shire Council, Australian Nuclear Science and Technology, Sutherland Shire Environment Centre, BX Networking and Illawong Village.
Nominations close on close on June 26. The awards presentation evening will be on August 22.
