Alcohol Free Zones are expected to retained and expanded in the Georges River Local Government area for the next four years.
And a new Alcohol Free Zone is planned to be introduced at Mortdale shopping centre.
The five existing Alcohol Free Zones in the local government area at Oatley Shopping Centre, Penshurst Shopping Centre, Kogarah CBD, Hurstville CBD and Riverwood Town Centre are due to expire on August 28.
The council is expected to endorse them to continue until August 2022.
St George police said the Alcohol Free Zones had assisted in reducing the number of disturbances as a result of the consumption of alcohol in the town centres.
Following the suggestion of police, the council will consider establishing a new Alcohol Free Zone in Mortale shopping centre on Morts Road between Kemp Street and Pitt Street.
The police have also recommended the Hurstville Alcohol Free Zone be extended.
The Hurstville zone currently includes Forest Road from the corner of Carrington Avenue and Queens Road in the west to the intersection of Forest Road and Durham Street in the east.
The zone would be extended up Queens Road to the corner of Dora Street and include Barratt Street, Crofts Avenue and Humphreys Lane.
Oatley’s current Alcohol Free Zone Letitia Street, Frederick Street and Oatley Avenue and would be extended down to include Oatey Parade between the railway station and River Road.
Penshurst’s current Alcohol Free Zone includes the section of The Strand running along the railway line and Laycock Road to the corner of Railway Parade. This would be extended to the other side of the railway line to include Penshurst Street from Bridge Street to Victoria Avenue.
