Westpac has extended its support of the Southern NSW Westpac Lifesaver Rescue Helicopter Service (WLRHS) for a further five years, taking its support for the service to 49 years.
The service, which includes its southern bases at La Perouse and Moruya, has performed more than 80,000 missions nationally.
It has conducted almost 24,200 missions in the past 44 years since the base first opened in 1973.
Last season, it recorded 93 missions and responded to 15 search and rescue call-outs.
Most common rescues last season involved those swimming at un-patrolled beaches, not swimming between flags and fisherman not wearing life jackets.
