Development applications with a total value of more than $1,054,000,000 were lodged in the Georges River Council local government area in 2017-18.
Of these, 894 development applications were assessed.
The figures are contained in Georges River Council’s report card for 2017-18 which gives a detailed picture of community life across the local government area.
The annual review of the council’s performance against its 2017-18 Operational Plan shows how it performed in the areas of social, environmental, economic and civic leadership.
This shows that 89 per cent of residents were satisfied with the council’s performance, a 19 per cent increase from the previous survey.
In addition, 95 per cent of its capital projects have been delivered on time and within budget.
On the corporate side, the council responded to 86 per cent of correspondence within 14 days, exceeding the 80 per cent target, and 69 per cent of customer requests received were completed within the agreed time frame.
Survey results show that 68 per cent of respondents were satisfied that the council’s decisions are being made in the best interests of the community, a 13 per cent increase from the previous survey.
Other figures show that the council received more than two-million emails and blocked 2,414,912 cyber threats.
There were 1,159,178 visits to the Hurstville Aquatic Centre and 811,816 visits to Georges River Council libraries.
And a total of 400 children were cared for every week in council’s child care centres.
The report show that the council hand out 3650 trees to residents.
86 per cent of graffiti tags were removed within 48 hours with total number of graffiti tags removed in the year-to-date 3543.
Target rates were reached for the daily cleaning of all commercial centres and the Hurstville CBD Big Wash was completed.
The Jubilee Park Adventure Playground was completed and the 2017-18 Roads Program was 100 per cent completed.
A review of the CCTV Camera Network was undertaken and the installation of new systems were completed.
Inspections have been conducted of 100 per cent of food shops.
95 per cent of waste customer requests were responded to within 48 hours.
Other figures include:
- 3100 trees planted;
- 742 food inspections undertaken;
- $596,060 grants for community organisations and heritage were made;
- 104,0678 telephone calls were answered;
- 317,596 people attended community centres and performance venues.
