Nominations will soon open for the 2019 Bayside Citizen of the Year Award honouring those who have made an extraordinary contribution to the community.
This gives residents the opportunity to nominate someone in Bayside Council local government area who deserves special recognition.
The Award recognises the exceptional contributions made by an individual to the local community in the areas of community services, charitable work, education or school development, environment arts and culture, sport, or humanitarian initiatives that enhance the quality of life for residents.
Nominations open in September and winners will be announced on Australia Day.
Award Categories for 2019 are:
- Citizen of the Year
- Young Citizen of the Year (25 years or under)
- Sportsperson of the Year
The 2018 Bayside Council Citizen of the Year was Mona Luxton who founded the Bay City Care Women’s Domestic Violence service in 2010.
The 2018 Bayside Council Sportsperson of the Year was named as Mark Fokas, 16, a member of Randwick Botany Little Athletics based at Hensley Athletics Field Pagewood.
