Hundred of Sutherland Shire schools students got their first taste of the job market when they attended a careers and education expo at Cronulla Sharks Leagues Club.
It was the third careers and education expo hosted by the Sharks and development partner Capital Bluestone and there was opportunities for students to gain internships, work experience and casual work.
The year 10-12 students from across the Shire got the chance to glimpse a range of job and career options from more than 30 stallholders including local businesses, university and TAFE advisors and industry and trade experts at the event, initiated by Cronulla Sharks and its development partner Capital Bluestone.
With a focus on delivering real outcomes for young people, it’s expected that many students will also walk away with the opportunity for internships, work experience and casual work opportunities.
Businesses were on hand to show what they have to offer school, leavers ranging from Sutherland Shire Council, the Defence Force, Police, local construction and engineering firms to names such as Google and Qantas who were also present at the event on Wednesday..
Cronulla MC Dane Wheeler spruiked the value of each business live from the venue and Beau Ryan and the Sharks players were in attendance creating some content for the Sharks media team.
The expo was part of the “Sharks Have Heart" community program, in which Capital Bluestone is a Platinum Partner and aimed to prepare young people for life after school, which has a positive flow-on effect throughout the community.
