Whether you are getting your Learner’s drivers licence, your P1 or your P2, there are a number of tests you will need to pass.
These focus not just on your ability to drive, but your ability to be a competent and responsible driver on the roads.
Sutherland PCYC offer a Safer Drivers Course that supplements your safety on the road.
This course is for those drivers who currently hold a valid NSW Learners License, are under 25 and have completed 50 logbook hours (of actual on road driving experience and not credits gained under the 3 for 1 instruction scheme)
There are two modules in this course.
In module one, you will be in a 3 hour group discussion led by a Facilitator to highlight on road decision making, hazard identification, action outcomes, peer influence and life pressures.

The discussion is designed to be engaging and a positive environment for ideas and feedback. This will provide effective management strategies and behaviours for learner drivers to become safer drivers.
Module two is a 2 hour on-road coaching session involving two learner drivers in the car with a coach. This session is aimed at putting the lessons learnt in Module 1 into practice and ultimately helping young drivers identify risks and minimise risk taking behaviour. These practical sessions are delivered by professional driving Instructors of the NSW.
The course concentrates on developing risk management skills designed to improve the safety of the young driver as they prepare to drive solo for the first time.
The course will help young drivers understand they are at highest risk of crashing when they first transition from supervised to independent driving.
It will also aid in understanding they can reduce their risk of crashing by adopting safe driving behaviours, minimising risk taking and making low risk on-road decisions.
Drivers will also develop strategies to address risks such as late-night driving, drugs and alcohol and general lifestyle pressures that can lead to speeding and driver distraction and fatigue.
