Shopfront’s art drop-in program has been given a life raft in the form of a community donation.
The Continuous Lines program at Carlton, which inspires youth to make art, can move forward, thanks to a gift of $5000 from Bexley Community Bank of Bendigo Bank.
The program had an uncertain future, so it reached out for help to keep its weekly arts initiative running.
Since 2014 Continuous Lines has been a safe space for young people including those with mental health needs, to be creative.
The bank contributes up to 80 per cent of its profits back to the community in grants, sponsorship and donations.
Shopfront’s development manager Cathy Nisbet says the extra help adds another six months to the running of the vital program.
“It is so important that we can provide a space and place for young people to express their creativity and to connect,” she said.
Continuous Lines is free and runs on Tuesdays during term time from 3.30pm for people aged 14 and older.
