From the classroom to what once were battlefields, Aquinas College student Benjamin Capovilla will embark on a historic journey this year.
He is among six NSW high school students who will travel to Anzac battlegrounds as part of the Premier’s Anzac Ambassadors Program.
Selected for his essay on the Centenary of Anzac, Benjamin will have the opportunity to walk in the footsteps of diggers.
The 10-day journey starts in Greece, where students will learn how the Anzac story unfolded in Athens and Lemnos.
They will then walk the footsteps of soldiers on the Western Front, travelling to Villers-Bretonneux in France, Passchendaele in Belgium, and London.
The program, supported by ClubsNSW, runs from October 28-November 7.
Miranda MP Eleni Petinos and Rockdale MP Steve Kamper, who were among the essay judges, will accompany students on the tour.
