There is nothing more important than looking after your family and your home. Legislation requires all NSW residents must have at least one working smoke alarm installed on each level of their home however this is often not followed leaving homes in danger of fire. One person who know the risks and dangers more than anyone is Shaun Penwarden.
Shaun has over 15 years experience in the fire services industry and co-owns MetroFire Services with Greg Blanche. Greg, who is the founder of MetroFire Services, has worked extensively in the fire protection industry since 1986 and has also been a dedicated professional fire-fighter and officer for Fire Rescue NSW for the past 29 years.
Shaun said that Greg had started and operated a very successful business, which was a major factor for him buying into the business four years ago. “It’s a good business in an industry that relies heavily on trust. Having worked with Greg for a long time, I knew he was a solid and experienced operator with whom I could form a great partnership,” he said.
In an industry as important as fire protection, honesty, commitment and knowledge are a valuable thing. As a medium sized business with 12 employees, Shaun said MetroFire have the advantage of being big enough to be able to handle any job, while being small enough to still maintain that personal touch. “As owners we are always contactable. We are the ones that visit sites and are on hand to solve any issues immediately”.
With Greg and I being locals, we understand the area along with the needs and issues of clients and buildings around the region.

While a lot of rules and regulations around fire safety and legislation can be confusing, Shaun said that can be easily fixed with a face to face meeting. “It’s easy for us to come out to a clients property, explain to them and show them how everything will work, and give the client piece of mind”.
