The displays were stunningly curated, interesting and highly recommended.
I was quite in awe of the UNESCO Memory of the Works of Australians display, especially the journals, maps, photos and sketches of Myles Dunphy.
His illustrations and diary entries are beautiful and his passion for state-wide national parks and practical guides for walking in areas such as the Blue Mountains were impressive.
Dunphy has been remembered many ways including as an A.M, by the University of Sydney and by Premier Wran (in 1996) who acknowledged him as the most “persistent, vigorous fighter and advocate for the environment we have in this country”.
We need more like him in present times but also we need to know about, value and preserve his values, commitment and preservation of the environment.
