Re the article ‘‘4.4 million club plan’’ (Leader, November 7).
Anyone can Google Bardwell Park flood and see time-lapse film of the last big flood in this area - in April 2015 the flood reached the level of the top of station platforms.
The whole area between the railway line and the creek is flood-prone, so I sure hope that has been built into the plans, because climate change suggests this will become more frequent in future.
Wolli Creek was straightened at the time the Hartill-Law bridge was built, around 1950, and part of the general car park area is built over the old creek line, so I wonder about foundation stability if five storeys is allowed.
This straightening also lies behind the problems of who has administrative responsibility for the car park land, since the councils’ boundary is the mid-point of the original creek line in the 1880s, not where the creek now is.

RE the proposed car park development for the Earlwood Bardwell Park RSL site.
I question the claims regarding the alleged need for such a development especially at an estimated cost of $65,000 per car space which sounds like a ridiculous waste of money.
Last night (November 10) at around 6pm there were approximately 50 per cent of the car spaces available and at 7.30pm there were approximately 40-50 car spaces still available.
Perhaps there is some other agenda at play here?

The proposed development will be a blight on neighbouring residents who would look out on a five-storey concrete car park completely obliterating any view of greenery at all.
Have local residents been consulted or are they too reading about it in the paper?
Thank you Leader for reporting on issues of concern to local residents, please continue.
