Qld spruiks record as jobless rate rises

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said on Thursday her government had delivered 42 per cent of its election commitments, just shy of 12 months from the November 2017 election.

Tabling the progress documents, she said they made "excellent Christmas reading" with the government delivering 213 of its 498 commitments.

She cited the introduction of land clearing laws, the establishment of a cyberbullying task force and the legalisation of abortion as key achievements.

"We went to the election promising to end a century of discrimination against women," Ms Palaszczuk said.

"We gave women the right to be in charge of their own bodies and their own healthcare in the privacy of their doctor's surgery and, together, we have delivered."

Ms Palaszczuk also spruiked achievement on jobs, saying the government had created over 39,000 positions since the election and more than 170,000 since they were first elected in 2015.

But just after the premier finished speaking the national unemployment figures for October were released, showing Queensland has the highest unemployment rate in the nation, rising to 6.3 per cent seasonally adjusted.

LNP deputy Leader Tim Mander seized the opportunity to liken the figures to a canary in a coal mine for broader economic trouble.

"Every indicator ... says we're not performing to our potential and that's a concern," Mr Mander said.

While there are no more sittings in parliament expected until February 2019, cabinet will hold at least one more regional meeting - in Redlands southeast of Brisbane later in November.

The government earlier this month indicated it wouldn't sit for a final week in December unless there was urgent legislation to be passed.

The summer break comes almost a year after Premier Palaszczuk won a second term, turning a minority government into a slim majority at the expense of the LNP under redrawn electorate boundaries.
