A 27-year-old Caringbah woman will front Wollongong Local Court on Tuesday following an alleged police pursuit with an unrestrained toddler in the car near Helensburgh.
Police claim they tried to stop a Mercedes Benz on the Princes Motorway on November 13 around 8.20pm.
It’s alleged the driver initially pulled over to the side of the road before taking off at speed and a pursuit followed.
Police state the vehicle reached speeds of more than 200 kilometers per hour, and the pursuit continued northbound for almost 10 kilometers before coming to a stop.
The female driver and male passenger were arrested as they got out of the Mercedes, while officers found an unrestrained three-year-old girl in the backseat.
The child was physically uninjured, though she was in a state of distress.
The man was released, but the 27-year-old Sutherland Shire woman was taken to Wollongong Police Station where her licence was suspended.
She was charged with police pursuit - not stop - drive dangerously and exceed speed by more than 45km/h.
Police have also reported the incident to Family and Community Services.
