Bayside Council’s Compliance Unit undertakes regular inspections of hair salons, beauty salons and tattoo parlours to ensure these business are complying with public health legislation and guidelines.
Currently, Council’s Environmental Health Officers are inspecting these businesses to help ensure owners have implemented the necessary infection control requirements to protect public health.
Business proprietors must also maintain an acceptable standard of cleaning and hygiene in these type of premises.
The council’s Officers also check that premises have warm water in hand wash basins for effective hand cleaning and that skin penetration equipment is sterilized.
It is very important that all staff working at these premises are up-to-date with current skills and knowledge in skin infection control measures.
