Christmas bride Di Solomon was desperate to have her Dad, Frank Solomon walk her down the aisle on her wedding day on Sunday, December 23.
But she was struggling to find a way to make sure that 87-year-old Frank, who lives permanently in aged care in the Hunter Valley could be there.
The team at Moran saved Di’s big day and stepped to to make an exception to their minimum respite stay period and offered Frank respite care for six nights at Moran Sylvania.
“We found him a room which was very similar in layout to his room at Calvary, Cessnock so that it was familiar to him,” Moran Sylvania spokeswoman Anne Samuel said.
“The team had great fun with Frank, getting him ready on the day of the wedding provided lots of laughter and everyone thought he looked very handsome and youthful in his suit.”
Di married fiancé Angelo at a park in The Rocks with a beautiful Sydney harbour backdrop followed by a dinner reception at the Altitude Restaurant, Shangri-La Hotel, Sydney.
Di said, “My sister and I both live in the shire and we were so stressed about how we could manage to get Dad to the wedding.
“We knew we wouldn’t be able to attend to his care needs ourselves,” she said.
“Because Dad is in permanent aged care in Cessnock we struggled to get respite care for him in the locally for such a short period.
“We are so thankful that Moran came to the rescue with a short respite stay.
“I am so grateful to everyone at Moran. It was my dream to have Dad at the wedding and without the respite care he would not have been able to walk me down the aisle.
“I thanks them for making it possible and for making the day extra special for Dad, too.”
