Police are investigating after a fire broke out in a residential unit block at Riverwood overnight.
Shortly before 1am on Monday morning, emergency services were called to Washington Avenue after reports of a fire in a 56-unit residential block.
Up to 40 residents were evacuated from the building as NSW Fire & Rescue officers worked to extinguish the blaze.
The fire was contained to three units, two on the seventh floor and one on the eighth.
One unit on the seventh floor where the fire began, was destroyed.
A woman was treated at the scene by paramedics for smoke inhalation and burns to her feet and was taken to hospital.
Campsie Police has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fire. Inquiries continue.
