A teenage girl has been assaulted by a man and dragged into bushes in broad daylight in a quiet street in Brisbane's northwest.

Queensland Police have released by Comfit picture of a Caucasian male they are seeking in relation to the attack.

The girl, 16, was grabbed while walking along Kittabilla Street in Chermside West around 12.15pm on Wednesday by a man who walked up and put his hand over her mouth.

He pulled her into nearby bushes but she managed to escape after kicking him and breaking free.

The man, who's believed to be aged in his late 20s to early 30s, approximately 185cm tall with a "proportionate" build and facial stubble, was last seen running down nearby Buran Street.

He was wearing a black baseball cap, black sunglasses with orange reflector lenses, a white T-shirt and black shorts.

"The girl, fortunately, was not physically injured however was naturally distraught by the incident," police said.

Police are appealing for anyone with information about suspicious behaviour in the area, motorists who may have passed the incident and CCTV from local homeowners.
