The heaviest of falls may be over but there's no point folding away the umbrellas just yet.
After the rain well and truly set in on the weekend, the skies are still bleak and bursting with falls, with showers expected to hang around for the next few days.
Parts of Sydney experienced flash flooding on Sunday morning after the heaviest rain hit the city.
A severe weather warning was downgraded after the solid rain front eased by the afternoon.
Lucas Heights received 54mm since 9am Sunday and Sydney Airport 60.8mm.
"It [has been] heavy rainfall but it hasn't been enough to exceed the threshold," Bureau of Meterology forecaster Zhi-weng Chua said.
"We do expect shower activity to continue into Monday."
Most of the showers will return in the afternoon and evening, with the chance of a thunderstorm on Tuesday and falls of up to 15mm.
Showers should start to ease off by Wednesday, before temperatures climb into the mid-to-high 20s later in the week.
Marton Park at Kurnell resembled a pool on Sunday, when a group of boys took to the sporting field for a game of footy.
