TS Sirius is one of many Navy Cadet Units all over Australia, which caters to young boys and girls from the age of 13-18, who have an interest in the Navy.
Each year Units are inspected and assessed, to make sure they are upholding the highest standards, set down by the Navy, for the training of the Unit's young Cadets.
This year's inspection was carried out by LCDR ANC Steven Poultney.
TS Sirius was established on May 1945, with their Unit being in the grounds of the Connells Point Public School and over the years have relocated to Kangaroo Point, Cahill Park at Arncliffe, and Kyeemagh.
Following the fire-bombing of their premises in 2013, the Unit moved to its current premises, within the tri-service base in Chandler Street, Kogarah, where Navy, Army and Air Force Cadets train.
Among those who attended the Parade, were members of the Cadet's families, representatives from Kingsgrove and Miranda RSL, as well as members of the Australian Naval Association and the Sons and Daughters of Sirius Association.
"Many of these young people go on to join the Navy, many do not, but what they do take from the training set down by the Navy, is a respect for what is demanded of them, should they take this career path," Convener of Sons and daughters of Sirius, Bruce McIntosh said.
"The Australian Navy Cadets (ANC) is a leading provider of youth development experiences. Navy Cadets reflect the Royal Australian Navy's values of honour, honesty, courage, integrity and loyalty.
"Becoming a Navy Cadet means making new friends, being part of a team that values you, and experiencing challenges, that will develop your potential as a leader.
"Adventure and fun are the key ingredients for all camping, water sport and team challenge activities.
"Navy Cadets learn how to sail, navigate and gain skills in everything from IT, communications, cooking and first aid to drill and seamanship.
"As a parent, should you feel that the qualities listed above would assist your child, in growing their potential," he said.
