Kids might have their heroes on the footy field but it was the kids who were the heroes at Taren Point on Sunday.
The season launch of the AFL's Auskick program was held at Gwawley Oval.
The three-hour event saw a number of young players put through their paces by the likes of Sydney Swans players Joel Amartey, James Bell, Darcy Cameron, Zac Foot, Robbie Fox, Matthew Ling, Jack Maibaum, Tom McCartin, Justin McInerney, Toby Pink, Harry Reynolds, James Rowbottom, Ryley Stoddart, Jackson Thurlow, Durak Tucker and Sam Wicks.
As well as learning new skills and drills while enjoying a kick with their heroes, the kids aged between five and 12-years-old were invited to come in Superhero themed dress to mark the occasion.
There were also food trucks, face painting and music.
Auskick is a weekly skills program for children designed to introduce young players to Australian football.
The Swans lost their opening game of the season to the Western Bulldogs on Saturday night.
Sydney host Adelaide at the Sydney Cricket Ground in their first home game of the season on Friday night.
