Street parking outside Sutherland Hospital will become even scarcer under proposed changes.
Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) wants to introduce No Parking on both sides of Kingsway from 6am-10am and 3pm-7pm.
At present, the restriction applies on the northern side of Kingsway in the morning peak and on the southern side in the evening peak.
In addition, six parking spaces would be completely removed to create a 24-hour No Stopping zone on the northern side of Kingsway between Chamberlain Avenue and Taren Point Road.
No Parking would also be introduced in the morning peak, east of the Taren Point Road / Kingsway intersection.
At present, the restriction applies only in the evening peak.
The proposed changes are detailed in a map released by RMS.
Shire MPs Mark Speakman and Eleni Petinos invited feedback from the community "on plans to improve pedestrian safety and reduce travel time for motorists around the intersection of Kingsway and Taren Point Road at Caringbah".
"The proposal is expected to reduce the number of rear end crashes at the busy intersection, and improve efficiency by making more lanes available, especially during the busy weekday peaks and for northbound traffic on weekends during peak times," the MPs said in a statement.
The MPs said the proposed changes would "help deliver consistent driving conditions for motorists".
"The parking changes are not expected to have a major impact on local residential parking as many residents in the area have off-street parking," the statement said.
"Residents and the local community are invited to get in touch with any questions or concerns.
"All feedback will be considered and Roads and Maritime will continue to keep the community informed as the proposal progresses."
