A week after Lance Thompson tragically passed away on the 23rd of August 2018 the owners at JD's Cronulla took over the reigns of his catering business at Woolooware Golf Club.
It's now Five months on and not only did they try to keep all his staff from the kitchen to the front of house, the club has just finished renovating their new function room and outdoor terrace that will cater for daily dining ,Weddings, Corporate Functions, Birthdays, Engagements, Christenings, Anniversaries, Christmas Parties, or any occasion.
David Sperandeo,John Quinlan and John Scutts who opened JD's Cronulla 16 years ago said they kept Lance's philosophy on dining in the club.
"At JD's Cronulla we used the same butcher as Lance which gave us a relationship and now like Lance we still use the freshest produce available and try to maintain a superior service"
"We are trying to grow the business as a destination and function centre,and luckily we still have plenty of parking which is a local issue everyone has to deal with" David said
JD's at Woolooware Golf Club have been appointed as the contract caterers for the next two years and will be open seven days for lunch and dinner with a weekend breakfast menu in the works.
Originally called the Endeavour room the new function centre and outdoor terrace can hold 300 for cocktails and a full room 450 sit down function.
John McMahon the Club's General Manager said the bonus of the new function space is that the Club can now hold multiple functions and events at the same time.
"Our big official opening night of the renovation is being held on Saturday Ist June.Tickets are $50.00 which includes a 2 course meal, entertainment and prizes on the night. Bookings can be made at the Club or by calling administration on 9544 0555."John said.
"The Club has a strong golfing and social membership with plenty of weekly social events held in the Club House for members and visitors.There are weekly dining specials, Thursday Night Trivia, Friday Night Meat and Seafood Raffles followed by the Lucky Members Badge Draw.
As a special deal for the month of May social membership is only $5.00.
The Club also has different golfing membership packages available with competitions held six days a week.There is no joining fee and there is yearly and monthly payment options available for membership fees.
Mothers Day is just around the corner with JDs @Woolooware offering a special 2 and 3 course menu for this special day.
Shirley Herbert has been club President for eight years and said the first function held in the new room was for club Patron Nancy Silcocks 100th birthday.
" Nancy has the club membership badge number five " Shirley said
"Everybody knows and loves her around our club and she helped us celebrate the clubs 60th birthday in 2017"
Woolooware is a friendly club, with a challenging and tight Par 70 golf course, and with the large recently renovated clubhouse its an ideal place to hold your next function.
