Bayside Council will host a Ramadan food festival in Rockdale each Saturday night over the next month.
Visitors will be able to sample the cuisine of Egypt , Indonesia and Turkey amongst others when Sydney's newest night-market kicks off in Walz Street, Rockdale this Saturday, May 11.
Run over four Saturdays during Ramadan, the family-friendly night food market will be an opportunity for the whole community to share the spirit of Ramadan, Bayside Council mayor, Bill Saravinovski said.
"Ramadan at Bayside is a community fair - to break the day's Ramadan fast - and the chance to share the hospitality and food of our multicultural community during this special month.
"It promises to be a delicious event showcasing the halal food of our diverse community," Councillor Saravinovski said.
There will be 10 food stalls in Walz Street this Saturday, plus the normal food outlets will be open.
Stalls include The Butcher Boys, Egyptian Vegan Street Food, Indonesian and Turkish street food, the Utsab Food Truck, plus Delicous by Sue desserts and the Ben and Jerry ice-cream van. There will be a jumping castle and face painting for children.
There will also be a jumping castle, play centre and face painting to keep the children entertained.
Ramadan in Rockdale Saturday Evenings of May 11, 18, 25 and June 1 from 7pm to 11.30pm in Walz Street, Rockdale.
Special Event Clearways and Road Closures will be in place from 4.30pm to 1.30am.
Council recommends Public Transport. Rockdale Station and bus stops are adjacent to the event. There is no parking in the immediate area. It is a short walk from York Street and Market Street car parks.
