A popular piece of poetry collections Graffiti Lane will be the focus of a free event hosted by its writer, Kelly Van Nelson at Cronulla next month.
Her book is about bullying and domestic violence, but also how one rises above with resilience.
It has already reached top spot on Amazon UK's hot new releases and number two poetry bestsellers.
Graffiti Lane was showcased at the London Book Fair in March this year and is an inspiring collection of poetry, delving into confronting social issues. The main message is about cyberbullying prevention.
Van Nelson, an active anti-bullying advocate, will discuss the inspiration behind her words on June 2 at Anna's Shop Around the Corner from 3pm-5pm.
In her book the author tackles issues of intimidation and discrimination, including playground and corporate bullying, domestic violence, marginalisation, gender inequity, mental health and suicide.
Yet while the writing is raw and the darker side of human nature is being exposed, there is an underlying sense of hope.
"It addresses real world issues," she said. "It looks at life through an unfiltered lens.
"This is an intensely personal perspective on the grittiness of urban living in an eclectic mix of traditional, shadow and freeform poetry."
