THE hunt is on for a person who appears to have used their vehicle to deliberately mow down a flock of birds beside a Central West lake.
The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon at a lake located near Lithgow.
"At 4.30pm on Saturday, May 11, a white vehicle with a p-plate attached was observed driving around the Lake Wallace Recreation Park, Wallerawang," officers said in a statement.
"The vehicle drove onto the reserve area and it will be alleged, intentionally drove toward a group of birds, running over a number of them.

"A large white goose was killed as a result of the collision."
Officers for the Chifley Police District are seeking information and assistance from the public.
Information is now sought from any members of the public who may have been in the area and observed the vehicle, or anyone who may have information that may assist police in identifying the driver involved in the incident.
