The second round of the NSW ICC T20 World Cup 2020 Cricket Legacy Fund will see $2 million available for new cricketing facilities and programs to enhance female participation in the sport.
Applications are now open for this year's round of the Fund which ensures that communities across the state have the opportunity to benefit from NSW hosting 14 matches throughout the women's and men's T20 World Cups taking place next year.
"I encourage clubs and associations in the St George area to take advantage of this great opportunity," Oatley MP Mark Coure said.
Established after the NSW Government's successful bid for matches to be played in Sydney, the Fund has seen over $1.96 million already invested in local crickets clubs with a further $4 million to be invested over the next two years.
Sydney will host 14 matches across both tournaments, including three of the four semi-finals and the women's Opening Celebration at the Sydney Showground.
"The NSW ICC T20 World Cup 2020 Legacy Fund enables clubs and councils in to improve local cricket facilities and increase female participation in the sport," Mr Coure said.
"The Fund also ensures that grassroots organisations reap the benefits of having such a major event held in Australia, another example of the NSW Government's strong commitment improving local sporting facilities in suburban and regional areas."
