St George City have announced the signing of former A-League player Corey Gameiro.
Gameiro's signing comes as a huge boost for the club as they look to climb away from the NPL 2 relegation battle.
The former Australian youth international will play for City until the end of this season.
St George City are 10th on the NPL 2 table but they are just three points above local rivals St George FC, who are second last in the 14-team competition. City are 10 points away from the top five with 11 rounds of the regular season to play.
City won their first game with Gameiro involved, downing Rydalmere 3-2 at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium.
The 26-year-old left the Central Coast Mariners at the end of the A-League season. Gameiro has previously played A-League football with Wellington Phoenix, Sydney FC, Melbourne City and Brisbane Roar making 51 appearances in the competition since his debut during the 2012-13 season.
Gameiro recently became a father for the first time with his partner, SBS football presenter Lucy Zelic.
Meanwhile, St George FC will soon learn their FFA Cup fate, with the draw for the national round of 32 to be held on Wednesday, June 26.
St George downed NPL 1 giants APIA Leichhardt, who eliminated then A-League champions Melbourne Victory last season, 1-0 in the sixth preliminary round at Caringbah on the way to the national stage.
Saints then beat NPL 3 side Dulwich Hill 4-0 in the seventh preliminary round to advance to the national competition for the first time.
