Cronulla videographer Dane Jaeger has combined a passion for community with creativity, which has secured him a place in the NOVA Employment Focus on Ability short film festival.
The festival, held in September, gives people the chance to visually express a cinematic story that highlights the plight of community.
This year it received entries from 26 countries.
Mr Jaeger's film, Game Day, is about Gymea's Brett McNamara, a young man with Down syndrome.
"He's inspiring. He prides himself on being the Gymea Gorillas rugby league's 1st grade 'head ball boy', and he lives and breathes his football," Mr Jaeger said.
"He's a regular in the Sharks dressing room and a big character around the footy community.
"The film tells a bit of his back story and builds up to his first game, in which the Gymea U14's helped him out with a game against Engadine's special needs team. He ends up scoring a try and is cheered off the pitch by the crowd. He hasn't stopped telling everyone how he is a movie star since.
"The whole thing so far has been such a positive experience for Brett and his family."
There to walk the red carpet on opening night, will be Mr Jaeger and his film subject, alongside his family, for a great night out.
People can vote online for their favourite film until July 3.
