Endeavour Harmony Chorus has received a $4000 Capacity Building grant from the Georges River Council Community Grants Program 2018-2019.
The grant comes after the chorus was awarded the title of Australian Champion Chorus for the sixth time at the 2019 national competition held in Hobart on May 18.
The 75 strong female a cappella group is described as a place for women who love to sing to come together, find friendship and harmony and connect with the community in a meaningful way.
Geraldine Zacka from the chorus Management Team commented, "We are so grateful to receive this grant.
"It enables us to replace worn out equipment and purchase new equipment we've not been able to afford," she said.
"The grant not only supports our Musical Director, Choreographers and Music Team but will also help all chorus members in the rehearsal process and in building the chorus Repertoire."
"Endeavour Harmony Chorus thanks Georges River Council and mayor Kevin Greene for the support the chorus has received over past years not only in funding but also through invitations to perform at local community events and Council functions."
Endeavour Harmony Chorus is very active in Georges River and the Sutherland Shire areas.
The choir regularly entertains residents residents at aged care centres and performs for Georges River Council events such as Citizenship Ceremonies including the Australia Day Festival, NAIDOC Week Opening Ceremony and The Magic of Christmas.
They provide ensembles for Enough is Enough Anti Violence Movement events and World Day of Remembrance for Road Accident Victims, and Christmas Carols at Westfield shopping centres.
The chorus is looking for new singers as part of a current new member intake.
A six-week Learn to sing a Capella course will commence shortly at Jannali Uniting Church hall.
Endeavour Harmony Chorus founder, Lea Baker said, "This year we are looking for singers in the lowest and highest voice ranges. However, women who sing in the middle (alto) voice ranges are also very welcome.
The chorus welcomes women from 18 years of age to join the chorus to experience and learn the art of a cappella singing.
Tuesday night rehearsals are held from 7.00 pm at the Jannali Uniting Church Hall in Box Road.
Visitors are always welcome.
