Council contractors fined
I am writing to you in relation to the letter from Matthew Bennett of Peakhurst, ( "No Site Controls", Your View, May 29) regarding sediment covering Forest Road from the Gannons Park worksite.
In the week prior to Mr Bennett's letter, council compliance officers had already inspected the site and identified inadequate pollution (soil) controls at the Gannons Park site by the contractor.
As a result, council officers issued a significant fine (Penalty Notice) for 'Pollute Waters' to the contractor.
Mr Bennett should rest assured that council takes compliance with environmental controls very seriously and this is not the first time that council has fined one of its contractors.
