Residents of the Georges River area are invited to attend the Councillors' Charity Ball to be held on Friday, August 2 at the Hurstville Entertainment Centre.
Georges River Council Mayor Kevin Greene said the black-tie event is a wonderful opportunity for local residents and businesspeople to get together and have a great evening while raising money for a good cause.
"The Charity Ball is a fantastic night of fun and great food, with groups of friends able to get together to book a whole table and get involved in live auctions and raffles, with some great prizes on offer," Councillor Greene said.
"The feature performer will be the exceptionally talented opera singer, Lorenzo Rositano, and there will also be music to get everyone jumping through the night from the John Field Band.
"Money raised on the night will go to the Salvation Army Hurstville to help support their work with the homeless in the Georges River area, by updating the laundry and bathroom facilities at the Hurstville SalvosConnect cottage.
"The laundry and shower facilities will be offered in conjunction with existing services including case work, community meals, spiritual pathways and social gatherings for the homeless community.
"These facilities will go a long way to providing better dignity options for people within our community who find themselves homeless," Cr Greene said.
