A trio of talented Sutherland Shire products have secured their futures with transfers in Europe and the A-League.
Socceroo Alex Gersbach has joined Danish Superliga club AGF Aarhus after he was granted a release from the final two years of his contract with NAC Breda following the Dutch club's relegation.
The 22-year-old turned down reported interest from Perth Glory and the Newcastle Jets in the A-League to remain in Europe.
Gersbach, a Sutherland Sharks junior from Cronulla, spent time in Norway at Rosenborg and in France with Lens after leaving Sydney FC.
"From my time in Norway I know about Scandinavian football and the level, so when the opportunity arose, I wanted to go to the Super League and when AGF came on the pitch I was immediately interested," Gersbach told the club's official website.
"I know Mustafa Amini from the national team and from him, I've only heard good things about the club, the traditions, the coaches, the facilities and the supporters.
"I'm really glad it's been here and now I'm just looking forward to contributing and working hard for the team's success."
Devlin joins Phoenix
Meanwhile, another Sharks junior has left Sydney FC, with Cameron Devlin joining Wellington Phoenix on a two-year deal.
The 21-year-old Young Socceroos midfielder previously worked under new Wellington coach Ufuk Talay at Sydney FC where Talay was assistant coach.
"I'm very grateful to Ufuk for bringing me here to Wellington and I'm looking forward to working really hard and giving it my all for the fans here in Wellington," Devlin told the club's official website.
"I thoroughly enjoyed working with him last year and are really looking forward to the chance to work with him again.
"I know that Wellington is a family orientated club and I'm glad to be a part of that for the next couple of seasons."
Devlin will have at least one other familiar face at Wellington, with Sydney FC youth player Liam McGing also joining the Phoenix.
McGing has been playing in the NPL 1 competition with Sutherland Sharks. The 20-year-old defender has joined on a one-year contract.
Ikonomidis misses out
Meanwhile, Chris Ikonomidis will miss Perth Glory's friendly with Manchester United at Optus Stadium on Saturday after undergoing shoulder surgery.
