The 35-year-old's lawyer Bridie Harders successfully applied on Friday to have his name suppressed, fearing it could lead to the identification of his alleged victim.
The Palmerston man and the young person had been "living together for some time", Ms Harders told ACT Magistrates Court.
The officer, who was suspended from duty last month, was not present.
Ms Harders indicated he would plead not guilty to all 22 charges, which include grooming, acts of indecency and maintaining a sexual relationship with the minor.
The matter will return to ACT Magistrates Court on September 20.
"All AFP members are expected to behave at all times in a manner that upholds the organisation's core values, reputation and integrity - consistent with community expectations," the force said in a statement.
"As this matter is before court it would not be appropriate to make any further comment."
Although prosecution lawyer Vivian Wei did not oppose keeping the man's name confidential, she indicated the prosecution would review the issue at the next court date.
