Dankebank Anglican School for Girls at Hurstville is set to get a new educational leader in the principal's chair.
Emma Burgess will take over the role from 2020, from departing principal Maryanne Davis, who held the reins for the past decade. She retires at the end of this year.
Following a selection process nationally and internationally, Dr Burgess was chosen as the one to lead students into a new school year.
Dr Burgess was described by the selection panel as a "brilliant thinker, strategist and a visionary educational leader."
She has held several senior positions across a career in education of about 25 years, including as the current head of teaching and learning at SCEGGS Redlands. She was also the head of senior school at St Michael's Collegiate School and deputy principal of Guilford Young College.
The mother of three girls says she is thrilled to begin her time at the all-girls' high school.
"Mrs Davis, together with her exceptional staff, has positioned Danebank as a leading school for girls. I am delighted and honoured to build on that remarkable legacy, to lead and to serve the school in this next phase," she said.
"It will be a great pleasure to connect with the girls, staff, families and community of Danebank, soon."
