A smash repairer at Caringbah is on fire, and six people have been evacuated from the premises.
Firefighters were called to the site on 47 Captain Cook Drive at 1.10pm on Friday afternoon. Six crews arrived within five minutes.
The fire started in the spray booth of North Caringbah Smash Repairs. Luckily it did not spread, and was contained to the building.
It caused extensive amounts of black smoke but no one was affected. An ambulance is on scene as a precaution.
There are traffic diversions in place and motorists should allow for extra travel time.
The main road is closed in an eastbound direction.
Motorists are advised to use an alternative route. They can use Cawarra Road, Denman Avenue and then Gannons Road to return to Captain Cook Drive
Route 477 buses are diverting away from Captain Cook Drive. They are using Cawarra Road, Dianella Street and Willarong Road instead. One bus stop is being missed.
